Stash This: Paint by SUCH Designs

May 31, 2015 by Terri Ann

Sunday Stash! Fat Quarters of Paint by SUCH Designs

You know that moment, where you spot fabric across the quilt shop and you have to rush over and investigate? Well, on a mission to get some thread the other day (yup, just thread) I picked up these 6 fabulous fat quarters from a fabric line I hadn’t seen before.

Sunday Stash! Fat Quarters of Paint by SUCH Designs

They’re from SUCH designs, part of the 2014 fabric line Paint by Carrie Bloomston the author of the Little Spark. I’d heard of the book before and it’s been in my Amazon shopping cart for a few weeks waiting for my next Amazon order and now it’s definitely on my must read Summer 2015 list! I was also fascinated in reading Carrie’s latest blog post about a social media fast – from mid May to late July she is foregoing the technology demands of her life and plugging into her family and herself.  I love this idea and kind of wish I could do a 7 week sabbatical this summer, like I was lucky to have last summer, in the more restful clear state of mind that I have now.

Sunday Stash! Fat Quarters of Paint by SUCH Designs

When I opened up the fat quarters I was blown away by the prints, they are so unusual and unique. Quilting cotton prints, while vibrant and exciting, can seem a bit expected and these are anything but predictable.  I love the way Carrie pulls together so many colors and textures in these fabrics and still makes it feel like a cohesive print or even line for that matter.  I have an idea what I’d like to do with these but for now they are my Sunday stash inspiring me to finish my current work in progress projects so I can get to this one in due time!

What’s the most unusual fabric in your stash, how does it inspire you?

I have the purple text fabric, I agree, it is fabulous!! The most unusual fabric I have right now is a silk/cotton blend that is woven with different colors in the weft and weave like the shot cottons. They are so gorgeous! I have no idea what I’m going to do with them but I’m thinking about just draping all 9 yards on the wall! 😉

Oh silk cotton blend? I’m totally unfamiliar with that textile. Bet it lovely to the touch though. What are you going to make out of it?

These are very cool prints – and I haven’t seen them on blogland yet either! I’m pretty far from a LQS, so most of my purchases are online…other than my soon-to-be-annual Row by Row Experience summer field trip!

That was my thinking when I saw these prints Denise! How did I not see anyone talking about these prints? They’re so funky-fresh, love em!
I think I might participate in the row by row this summer too I’ve gotta look into it a little more though 🙂
