This first Christmas session this year really pushed me outside my normal box. I normally shoot adults and young adults but when Jenn, a close friend asked me to take some photos for her Christmas cards I knew it’d be a different type of session than I was used to so I jumped at the chance.
One thing that’s really neat with family sessions is that a little bit of everyone’s personality comes out. Jenn, her husband Jacob and their kiddos Brianna and Jacob were so fun to work with.
Jenn brought the idea to re-create a Christmas morning in PJ’s and they have a family tradition where their advent calendar is the kids unwrapping a holiday book to read together so I thought it’d be special to incorporate them reading a book as a family.
We tied up Mom and Dad in Christmas lights but I preferred the kids all tied up. It took some coaxing to get Jacob to wrap her up but as long as he wasn’t getting wrapped up he was game. Bri was more than happy to oblige!

I had forgotten to schedule this post to go up and then I checked my mailbox the other day and was delighted beyond words when I got the Christmas card that had my photos on it.

PS. If you use photos your photographer took in your Christmas cards or Wedding save the dates or invites send a copy to your photographer. That feeling when you see your work in printed life…I don’t think that feeling will ever get old.
